In the historical town of Andritsaina, at a beautiful mountainous and leafy landscape, a priceless cultural and historical treasure is preserved. It is the Public Historical Library of Andritsaina or “Nikolopoulios”, as prevailed, called after its first benefactor. This is one of the most important, historic and richest libraries in the country. Treasures of World Publishing and Printing, of inestimable objective, historical and intellectual value adorn the library shelves. The presence of such a jewel, at a mountainous and almost isolated place, offers prestige and pride to Andritsaina and rightly makes it the spiritual township of the region.
Its establishment and development are events inextricably linked with its great sponsor Konstantinos- Agathofronas Nikolopoulos, a very interesting and important historical figure, the works and the life whereof are unfortunately not widely known. A man with a keen interest in the affairs of his time, he lived in a transitional period, full of ideological and political fermentation leading to decisive socio-political changes. He made, under the influence of such fermentation and upheaval, a great achievement for a human being; he left his own distinct trail in his time and place through his work and choices.
